Village Life
The Cross Keys is definitely an important part of village life and there has been a pub on this site for over 400 years. The pub has not changed much over the years, its heyday being when RAF Upwood was still operational and we do still have many visits from ex-airmen. Now we are a community pub attracting a lot of restaurant customers from the surrounding areas.
Upwood is a small but very lively village, with lots of activities for all ages. The most important village event is our summer fete when everyone gets together in our paddock, and all the village groups are represented. Groups who frequently use the pub as a meeting place are the History Group, Art Club, Table Tennis Club, Youth Club, Toddlers, Brownies, Ladies Get Together, Cricket Club and Over 50's to name a few. The pub also hosts a community access point with computer equipment available to all, free of charge, and acts as a meeting place for many groups and societies.
